2013.10.23 Tiger Den Meeting UPDATED WITH PICS

Tiger Den Meeting REMINDER: Don't forget your family pictures for the scrapbooks and popcorn forms.

When: Wednesday, Oct. 23rd, 12:15pm
Where: Pak Residence
What: Action items, lunch, agenda

Action Items for Parents:
1.Please bring along with your child, the Tiger handbook, pencil, water, and a local map if you have one.
2. Supplies needed for simple family "scrapbook": a few family photos, old magazines to cut out pictures, crayons, markers, scissors, glue, etc. (I'll bring a stapler and construction paper).
3. If you haven't already, please complete Achievements 1F (chore), 2F (look at map together), and sign off in your handbook.
4. Lunch for the week will be provided by: Elizabeth will be hosting lunch. In keeping with the week's den activity, "Make a food pyramid," Elizabeth will provide torilla pizzas for the kids make themselves as an example of healthy lunch.

We will be working on the following during our meeting:
I. Achievement 1: Making My Family Special (complete)
A. 1F: Complete a chore with your parent at home (Sign off in handbook and log)
B. 1D: Make a Family Scrapbook (complete today)
C. 1G: Visit a historical building: Discuss Heritage House in preparation for Go-See-It on 9/28 (sign off in handbook and log)

II. Achievement 2: Where I live
A. 2F: Look at map of the community with your adult partner
B. 2D: Participate in a flag ceremony (sign off in handbook and log).
C. 2G: Discuss fire department Go See (sign off in handbook and log).

III. Achievement 3: Keeping Myself Healthy and Safe
A. 3F. Family Activity
   a. With your family, plan a fire drill and then practice it in your home.
   b. With your adult partner, plan what to do if you became lost or separated from your family in a strange place.
B. 3D. Den Activity: Make a Food Guide Pyramid.
   a. Character Connections - Health and FitnessKnow: With a family adult, have a healthy snack. Commit: When is it difficult to eat healthy food? Practice: What foods are best for your health and growth?
C. 3G. Go See It!: Learn the rules of a game or sport. Then, go watch an amateur or professional game or sporting event.
